Kool FM - Community Notices PolicyCommunity Notices are advertisements broadcast by radio stations on behalf of genuine community organizations. In some cases the broadcaster has an advertiser that pays for the airtime and the administration. Community notices may be broadcast subject to the criteria detailed below.Official NZ Police, Fire and St Johns announcements are accepted and broadcast freeAll OthersIs your organization a 'not for profit' group?If Yes you may qualify, if No it is unlikely you will.Does the organization have paid staff?If yes you may not qualify.Is the organization government funded?Many organizations tender for government contracts then masquerade as 'not for profit' when the whole motive is service delivery at a profit. Organizations that have government funding and paid staff do not qualify for community notices.Is it for a School fund-raising event? This is the one exception to the above group.Is the Event Free?If a charge is being made, other than gold coin entry, or Koha, it becomes a paid advertising eventIs Alcohol Involved?If the organization is running a bar as part of the event, it becomes a paid advertising event. No exceptions.Is a Sponsors name to be mentioned?If so, then it becomes a paid advertising event.Rule of thumb:- Sponsors should be prepared to spend as much as they have given in sponsorship, telling the public they have done so. Otherwise the sponsorship has no benefit to them.Free AdvertisingCommunity groups that do not qualify for Community Notices but still need publicity, are asked to acknowledge the cost of operating a radio station by making a payment of $20. The payment is paid once. The community notice will be broadcast every day between the day it is provided to the station and the day of the event.Community notices may be scheduled up to 3 at a time and play 6 to 10 times per day depending on programme commitments.Paid Advertising.Community groups may choose to buy advertising and will be offered advertising at Grid rate 8 which is 80% off the base rate for the station. Sponsorship By Kool FM.In some cases the station may 'promote' the event in return for inclusion on the brochures, posters, signage at the event, and sponsor credit announcements on the day
